We gather, not scatter; The Spiritual Christian Unity Prophecy names no specific brethren in Christ as sinners, before it happens.
Christian unity is the key to understanding end times. Until the recent great advances in Christian unity, few Christians have correctly understood that Christian unity means unity in the Father’s love for all who believe in Jesus to repentance, of every Christian denomination and group. This has lead in the past to some errors in interpretation of prophecy scriptures.
Two things primarily set apart Christian unity prophecy from most other versions of end times prophecies. Firstly, Christian unity prophecy focuses more on the spiritual interpretation rather than the physical. God is a lot more concerned with hearts, than He is with physical bodies and places, and the kingdom of God in our hearts is where we Christians unite in the new commandment of King Jesus to love one another as He loved us.
Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
John 15: 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
For example, many scripture references to Zion or Israel do not refer to the nation state of Israel, but rather to the body of Christ, which is Christian unity. Some scriptures are fulfilled in both a spiritual way, and a physical way, and some are fulfilled several times. Most other prophecy fails to see the spiritual fulfillment of scripture in Christian unity that includes believers of all Christian denominations and groups. Christian unity *is* the spiritual Israel wherein we inherit all God’s promises to His children.
Romans 9: 6 ¶ Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
Secondly, Christian unity never, never makes the spiritually hurtful mistake of interpreting scripture so as to condemn in advance and drive away our Christian brothers and sisters in other Christian groups and denominations. Probably the most blatant example of this kind of horrible mistake is the interpretation of the “Whore of Babylon” as being the Catholic Church. This is often based on the Biblical reference to seven mountains or hills on which the Whore sits, and the fact that ancient, classical Roman literature often refers to the “Seven Hills of Rome”, an appellation which continues to this day.
Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Revelation 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Accusing our own Christian brethren in any particular Christian denomination of being the “Whore of Babylon” is a hateful, and in some ways, silly Bible interpretation that I’m told first showed up about a thousand years ago, and has since been rehashed by a number of people, from the late Dr. Herbert W. Armstrong of the Worldwide Church of God who advertised that erroneous interpretation on radio and TV for decades until his death in the nineteen-eighties, to Hal Lindsey, who wrote “The Late Great Planet Earth”.
Regarding Brother Lindey's writing, I greatly admire all that Brother Lindsey has done to warn both the world and the body of Christ about the perils of the end times, although it happens that I do not agree at all in his interpretation of an early "rapture" that would take some greater type of believers to heaven before all the rest of us believers. But for the sake of both his readers and his own, I pray that this dear brother in Christ, whose work is so laudable in other regards, would let the Holy Spirit speak to him through God’s word to show him how wrong, and how harmful this kind of divisive and prejudicial interpretation is to our Catholic brethren in Christ in particular, and to Christian unity overall.
In the first place, the very next verse following the “seven mountains” reference, verse 10, is about seven kings. It is most reasonable that the seven mountains, and the seven kings, as well as the “seven heads” and “seven crowns” of Rev. 12:3, *all* refer to seven kingdoms or governments.
Revelation 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Nowhere else in the Bible does God borrow from some phrase that was first derived from secular, pre-existing, ancient classical Roman literature, such as “the seven hills of Rome”, to be used as the key to interpretation of the prophetic word of God. This anti-Catholic interpretation of a Biblical reference that is certainly symbolic, and therefore is so susceptible to subjective interpretation, is a prime example, and a sad statement, on how we can mislead ourselves by our own prejudices against our own brothers in Christ, and by our failure to understand the importance of Christian unity, of believers in all Christian denominations and groups.
Psalms 50:20 Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.
21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
It’s interesting to note that the Worldwide Church of God eventually completely recanted this patently false, blatantly anti-Catholic, anti-Christian interpretation of this Bible passage, and has since even changed the name of the denomination.
Here is a far better example of a loving, Christian attitude such believers might want to consider in the future, if they really want to worship the God who is love of all believers in Jesus:
In essentials unity,
In doubtful things liberty,
But in all things love.
Yet I say: not only in all things,
But before all things
And thus I praise (Christian) love.
(Quote attributed to St. Augustine)
But there is a very important spiritual point to be learned here about the central issue of Christian unity in end times scripture, and how it affects our interpretation vis-à-vis any of our brethren in Christ.
Unity in Jesus is the certain result of all end times. There is a unity in Jesus that is ordained by God, and opposition to that unity is a sin. And it is to be expected that some Christian brothers and sisters will certainly choose to oppose such Christian unity, with some opposition coming from Christians from a wide variety of Christian denominations and groups.
And when such opposition occurs, we Christians who recognize the Biblical truth of uniting in Jesus as the Father’s love for all His children, all of whom believe in Jesus to repentance, will recognize such sin as sin when such opposition to this Christian unity happens, and not before such sin occurs. And we Christians must all remember that when it does come about that our Christian brethren so sin against Christian unity, we shall continue to love them fervently, as our dear brothers in Christ.
But the Lord is not going to put any of us Christians in the position of identifying sin in particular groups of our own brothers in Christ, in advance of their sin. That’s an obvious error in prophecy that could not come from the Holy Spirit, whose purpose is Christian unity in Jesus. So singling out the Catholic Church, or any other specific Christian group or individual, as a matter of scriptural, prophetic pre-judgment to condemn them of *future* sin that they have not yet specifically done, themselves, is absurd. In addition, the Catholic Church is full of believers in Christ, from layman to Pope, who are our dear brothers and sisters in Christ. And some of the Popes since Vatican II, in 1962, have made great efforts toward Christian unity. It is certain that the laity and clergy of the Catholic Church will be a significant part of Christian unity.
But the Catholic Church is just one of the Christian denominations and groups that will be important to Christian unity. All Christians are equally important in Jesus. No one who believes in Jesus to repentance and who loves the brethren will be left out.
Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
We need to take every precaution not to offend any believer in Jesus, or pre-judge the decision that any Christian, or group of Christians, will someday make regarding unity in God’s love for all His children who believe in Jesus to repentance.
Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
And we need to make every effort to call all Christians to Christian unity, call them where they are now, while they remain in, and while they keep intact, all their different Christian denominations and groups which they love. Christian unity is not about destroying any Christian group, but building us all together; not in the physical, but in the Spirit. Christian unity will never, never inflict harm on any other Christian, or on the Christian denomination or group other Christians love, not in any interpretation of scripture, or by any other word or deed.
Romans 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
